KPRU History


1973

Kamphaengphet Rajabhat University is an Institute of the Higher Education in the Office of Higher Education Committee, Ministry of Education. In 1973 , KPRU was designated as a “Teacher’s College” by decree of the Thai Government on September 29, 1973 Muang, Kamphaengphet, consisting of 421 rai and 58 wa square.

1975

In 1975, KPRU was designated by the Act of Legislation of Teacher’s Colleges 1975, to become part of the “Higher Education” Ministry of Education.


1976

In 1976, KPRU opened for its first 392 students to begin studying at the certificated level. Students were selected from Tambol Council in Kamphaeng Phet and Tak Provinces.


1984

In 1984, KPRU used the Act of Legislation of Teacher’s College (No.2) 1984, that the Teacher’s College can produce the graduates in many career fields and professions.


1986

In 1986, KPRU opened its first classes for part time students, studying on the weekends.


1992-1995

In 1992, H.M. King Bhumibol signed His name to officially authorize the 36 teacher’ s colleges, “Rajabhat Institute” on 14 February, 1992.
In 1995, H.M.King Bhumibol signed His name to Rajabhat Institute in the Government Gazette on 25 January, 1995.


1998-2003

In 1998, KPRU opened for the first Master Degree part-time students, Master of Education in Educational Administration.

In 2000, KPRU opened for its first group of part time students at Mae Sod, Tak province. (Students studied at Sapphawitthayakhom school).

In 2001, KPRU opened its site of Higher Education, consisting of 600 rai at Tambol Mae Pa, Mae Sod, Tak province and had its first full-time students.

In 2002, KPRU initiated a Master Degree Program for part time students, Master of Art in Development Strategy and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.

In 2003, H.M. King Bhumibol signed His name in the Government Gazette to authorize the legislation of Administration of Ministry of Education 2003, that the Rajabhat Institute had the same structure of universities in the Higher Educational Committee.


2004

In 2004, H.M. King Bhumibol signed his name in the legislation of Rajahat University on 9 June, 2004 and published in the Government Gazette on 14 June, 2004, effective 15 June, 2004. The 41 Rajabhat Institutes had become “Rajabhat University” and granted freedom and jurisprudence.

At our sister campus at Measot district, Tak, students from remote areas of Tak province and its neighbourhood, do not have to leave their home and travel far away to acquire high quality higher education. Having a campus close to their homes make it is possible for the students to pursue the degree of their choice and at the same time help their family run the family business. the campus has opened 8 programmes of study that meet the need of those students.

Apart from the faculties, school, and campus, there are several departments of which the mission is to facilitate and support the teaching of the lecturers and the learning of our students.

That is why we can assure our teachers and students of up to date teaching and learning equipment, systems, and technology.


2005-2011

In 2005 ,KPRU opened for its first Master Degree for part time students, Master of Education in Educational Administration, in Curriculum and Instruction and Master of Art in Development Strategy at Mae Sod campus.

In 2007 ,KPRU offered a Master Degree Program for part time students, Master of Public Administration in Local Governance, and Master of Science in Industrial Technology for Local Development.

In 2008 ,KPRU cooperated with Department of Local Administration to open Bachelor of Public Administration program in Fiscal Management for the first batch of Local organizational personnel in Kamphaeng Phet, Tak and Sukhothai Provinces.

In 2009 ,KPRU opened Doctor of Philosophy program in Administration and Development Strategies.

In the academic year of 2011, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University offers the academic project “to enhance the potential in the regular programs.” These programs aim to serve the university policy and open the academic opportunities to the number of local students who intend to apply to the university.


Present

At KPRU We never stop improving the process of producing qualified graduates, knowledge, and research so that the seeds of wisdom we produce can grow in any conditions. The curriculums that we offer, the innovations that we have created, and the research that we have conducted all are for the prosperity and sustainability of the society.

To live up with our founding philosophy of providing educational opportunity to local people, we try our best to keep the cost of study and living of our students as low as possible. For those who have financial difficulty, the university will help them with over 20 forms of scholarship as we want to make sure that the students who come here can finish their study.

And to keep up with the world, KPRU has many projects that help us maintain our quality at the international level. We have sought for overseas partners and have signed MOUs with both universities and organizations around the world. Having such partners our staff and students will have wider opportunities to learn outside the country through exchange programmes, international conferences, and visits. Also, we learn from our guests from overseas universities who we welcome to KPRU to participate in different academic events. At the moment, KPRU has signed 23 MOUs with universities and organizations from 11 countries around the world. This ensures that we can keep our standard at the global level.

For 50 years since the day it was founded, KPRU has continuously developed and will never stop growing. As we know that the world is constantly changing we will keep up with it and put all the efforts to stand among the top. Come and walk together with us at KPRU.
