Microsoft launches free scheme

MICROSOFT (Thailand) has officially kicked off a "Student Advantage" scheme to allow students in 10 educational institutes to use Office 365 ProPlus free of charge.
The company installed ProPlus in two institutes a few months ago, and launched the main Student Advantage programme in another eight schools yesterday. By the end of this year, the company aims to encourage 20 more institutes to join the programme.
Ome Sivadith, national technology officer at Microsoft (Thailand), said that to join Student Advantage, educational institutes are required to get all of their teachers to use the Education Desktop Package, which consists of Windows Upgrade, Microsoft Office, and a Client Access Licence.
Under the programme, each of the 10 participating institutions is allowed to install Office 365 ProPlus free of charge in five personal computers (including Macs) and five mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets across platforms.
Usable on and offine
Office 365 ProPlus includes not only Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint but also OneNote and Office Online, as well as 1 terabyte of OneDrive for Business.
"Students can use Office 365 ProPlus in both online and |offline modes," Ome said.
The 10 educational institutes are the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Kampheng Phet Rajabhat University, Stamford International University (Thailand), Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok Christian College, Bangkok Patana School, Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School, NIST International School, Saint Gabriel's College, and St Andrews International School Bangkok.
Microsoft's Student Advantage scheme has been deployed in 35,000 institutes globally.
By the end of this year, there could be around 20 million students worldwide using Office 365 ProPlus.

On last June 12, 2015, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University led by Asst. Prof. Suwit Wongboonmak, President, Asst. Prof. Wisit Thanyavanh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Soontaree Duangthip, Director of Thai Language Program, Mr. Norachatti Wang, Lecturer from Mae Fah Luang University and Ms. Chadaporn Chotiradapa, International Collaborations, International Relations Office visited Guangxi University of Foreign Languages, the People Republic of China
In this regard, the two universities have signed MOU for student and staff exchange, joint research curriculum development, and academic conference especially in the fields of Thai Language. This cooperation will strengthen the relationship of two universities and academic exchanges with other areas in the future.
Additionally, administrators also have the opportunity to meet students of Guangxi University of Foreign Languages to guide the course and details of the costs. There were many students interested to study at KPRU especially in Thai Language with 2 + 2 and 3 + 1 program.
On this occasion, the KPRU administrators had met the Commercial Consul of Thailand in Nanning and had the opportunity to exchange information on trade, investment and education as well.
